Vienna, Austria
June 28-July 1, 2019
From the moment we boarded the flight from Frankfurt to Vienna, we started acclimating to Austria with a Strauss waltz playing on the the airplane's sound system. We spent the first 3 days of our Austrian vacation in Vienna taking in the city of Mozart, Beethoven, Wittgenstein, Leibniz and Freud. In fact, Landtmann's (middle picture below) is the coffee shop where Freud had his morning coffee.

We sampled the local food (schnitzel with potatoes, apple strudel, etc...) and were on a quest to find the best hefe weizen beer in Austria. Edelweiss was the best.

On our last day in Vienna, we took the subway then a tram out to the Zentralfriedhof, one of the largest cemeteries in Europe. We found the corner of the cemetery where the musicians' tombs are: Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, and Strauss. We also found Arnold Schoenberg (Austrain composer)(picture above right). The physicist Ludwig Boltzmann is also buried in this cemetery. After his death, when his theories were finally accepted, his key equation, S=k Log W was etched into his tombstone. Every Physical Chemist knows this story.
