Trip to snowbound England
January 10-15, 2010

I travelled on business to Cirencester, England which is about 70 miles west of London Heathrow Airport. England was in the middle of the worst snow season in 30 years, as well as a salt shortage.

On the way back to Heathrow on Thursday, I made a detour to Portsmouth to visit the Old Historic Dockyards on the Naval base there. Here's a link to pictures from Portsmouth ( LINK).

The pictures below are from the hotel in South Cerney, near Cirencester.
These four pictures below were taken on a lunchtime walk organized by our hosts through a public park in Cirencester.
Cirencester was an important crossroads city, called Corinium, in Roman times, so there are lots of Roman ruins (barracks, villas, etc) around the town. Cirencester has a little museum that I was able to spend a little time in. The museum collection included more complete mosaics than I had ever seen before.
