Ora et Labora at Subiaco Abbey
March 17-20, 2016
|Four men from St.Jude (Dave Catlett, Wes Dickinson, Brian Guffey, and Sean Kelly) spent a few days with the Benedictine community of Subiaco Abbey in Subiaco, AR ( www.countrymonks.org ). Father Mark Stengel led us through a weekend of ora et labora (prayer and work). We prayed the Liturgy of the Hours, took our meals with the Subiaco community of monks, and spent about 6 hours over two days in community service work in Paris, AR.|
Along with ora et labora , we had some leisure time at Ol Shalom Ranch in Ozark National Forest (
, an organic farm and lay Christian community in the Benedictine tradition) and hiking on the abbey properties with Father Mark.
